Women deserve better – Phanda Mzansi raising issues of GBV
Gender-Based Violence is a no-no in Vosman.
There is one young lady in eMalahleni who never stops working; Frieda ‘Mzansi’ Manana of Phanda Mzansi Modelling Agency is always busy.
After celebrating for being nominated thrice for the exceptional work she is doing to encourage and motivate young people, she has not stopped working.
Mzansi has been out working with young people since 2015 when she started the modelling agency.
She recently hosted a recycled material photoshoot to show the children the importance of recycling that was followed by a ‘photoshoot in the wild’.
She also had a vintage photoshoot.
The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) which is a burning issue was put into perspective when a photoshoot was held in Vosman by her models recently.
The United Nations (UN) Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women describes GBV as follows: “Any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivations of liberty, whether occurring in public or private life. Violence against women shall be understood to encompass, but not be limited to, the following: physical, sexual and psychological violence occurring in the family [and in the community], including battery, sexual abuse of female children, dowry-related violence, marital rape, female genital mutilation and other traditional practices harmful to women, non-spousal violence and violence related to exploitation, sexual harassment and intimidation at work, in educational institutions and elsewhere, trafficking in women and forced prostitution.”
In all these Mzansi have been working very hard among young people of Vosman making sure they are safe and avoid doing negative things in their lives.
She has hosted different events in the past, such as beauty pageants, fashion shows, street parades and donating clothes to some of the informal settlements.
