Truck driver and passenger doing fine after an accident on old Middelburg Road

Failed brakes are the suspected cause of last night’s accident.

An accident scene last night took hours to clean after a truck that carried scrap metal overturned and left the Puma Garage full of debris and oil on the road.

The accident happened on Thursday, August 19 just after 19:00 on the old Middelburg Road at the Puma Garage at the entrance to Jackaroo Park.

According to witnesses on the scene, it seems that the driver lost control after the brakes allegedly failed and the truck hit the curb in front of the garage, ploughed into the garage, and landed on its side.

Both the driver and passenger were treated on the scene and sustained only minor injuries.

Staff from the garage and other volunteers helped to clean up the scene afterward and made sure the road was clean to allow traffic to continue.
