Hands that make lives better

Gladys taught the younger members how to knit blankets using crochet needles

Community Work Programme (CWP) members in eMalahleni develop their skills and also try to better the lives of others if they are not planting vegetables in their beautiful garden in Hlalanikahle.

The women don’t only have gardening skills, they also make hand-made blankets, mats, berets and hats out of wool, plastics and cassette tapes.

Gladys Phala, one of the members of CWP mentions that it is important to create skills development that would help people’s lives.

Gladys taught the younger members how to knit blankets using crochet needles.

The blankets and mats are usually sold to people at an affordable fee.

CWP members decided to also make blankets, mats and hats that will be donated to the needy in the community.
