CSS and Rizpah ready to wrap your gifts in December
Come wrap your Christmas gifts at the wrapping station at the Game entrance at Highveld Mall

Christmas is around the corner and Christmas shopping is even closer.
This year the Christian Social Services (CSS) and Rizpah will be wrapping gifts as part of their annual fundraising project.
CSS has a Christmas gift wrapping station at the Highveld Mall at the Game entrance and Rizpah has a Christmas gift wrapping station at Checkers Ben Fleur and Saveways.
Both projects have been very successful since they started. And it is a way of being visible to the public.
“We are appealing to the public to please donate Christmas wrapping paper and accessories such as bows and ribbon to assist us in this wonderful fundraising project,” said Ms Anet Jansen from Rizpah.
CSS Witbank is a child care protection agency situated in Klipfontein.
The non-governmental organization renders many services around Emalahleni and one of its major services is foster care placement of children in need of care and protection.
These are children who have been orphaned by losing one parent or both and we also have children who have been abandoned by their biological parents.
The CSS Witbank believes that every child has the right to family care, love, and protection.
Therefore, orphaned or abandoned children need other people in the community to step in when the biological parents are unable to do their parental duties.
The CSS Witbank uses its specialties to screen suitable adults that are interested in being legal foster parents for these children.
Most people, who are normally interested in the lives of these children, tend to be family members and relatives.
Non-relatives are also welcomed.
The CSS Witbank is proud to say that we have successfully placed children in foster care with very good people.
And we continue to supervise these placements until the children are 21 years of age.
There are circumstances where the biological parents of the children are present in their lives, but the children still need care and protection due to child abuse or severe neglect.
The CSS Witbank realized that there was a need for a home for these children and a project called Rizpah cluster foster care was born.
The Rizpah project started operating in 2005 when the CSS Witbank joined hands with the Dutch Reformed Church and Klipfontein community to open a very much needed place of safety for vulnerable children in eMalahleni.
The project grew with leaps and bounds, opening a new house nearly every second year.
“We are currently administrating eight houses caring for nearly 60 children,” Anet said.
The Rizpah project became more successful as years went by and other projects like opening a daycare facility at Springvalley emerged as the community grew bigger.
The Rizpah children are under the daily care of well-trained caregivers, who are supervised by managers.
There is a project manager to oversee the smooth running of the project and a social worker to ensure that the statutory requirements from the Department of Social Development are met and also to ensure the emotional development of the children.
All this is being held together by the management board which includes members of CSS, Dutch Reformed Church, and the public.
Rizpah takes pride in ensuring that the daily needs of the children are met and the needs include: Food, education, clothes, recreation, and medical amongst others.
“We receive funds from the Department of Social Development, Sassa and several fundraising events are being held throughout the year. However, the number of children in need increases daily and it is becoming a challenge for the project. Therefore, the community of eMalahleni is always welcome to play a role in helping the CSS Witbank and Rizpah Ministry in its caring role,” Anet said.
Another form of assistance is that of providing a home for these vulnerable children.
Therefore, members of the community are encouraged to assist the CSS office with foster parenting, holiday parenting, and safe-care parenting as well as much-needed donations.
