A fun-filled sports day was held in Ga-Nala for the fourth year in a row.
The theme of this yearly sports event is ‘Let’s break the walls that separate us and build bridges that bring us together’ was held on October 23 at the Kriel Rugby Club.
“Our main aim for the day was to get kids from primary school to come to join in the jam-packed and fun day of sports so that all cultures and races can unite,” said Cllr Dirk Grobler, an organiser for the event.
There were four soccer teams and three netball teams that participated, such as Laerskool Krielpark, Laerskool Onverwacht, Merlin Park Primary School, and Bonginhlanhla Primary School.
“We got another add-on to the theme this year which was ‘Real men don’t hurt women and children. Our sponsors, Build It and Spar made this event more special by treating the kids with food parcels and goods,” he told Witbank News .
The afternoon’s prize giving was hosted by the member of the mayoral committee, Mr Derek Skhosana as the mayor could not attend.
“I would just want to thank everyone that made this day special for our youngsters. From our sponsors to the organizers, this does not go unseen. We are proud to say that this event was successful and we will certainly continue with it next year,” Grobler concluded.
