Highveld Association AGM will be held in November

The upcoming AGM is the ideal platform to effectively communicate and engage with key stakeholders.

The Highveld Association for the Physically Disabled will be hosting their annual general meeting (AGM) soon and they invite all the relevant parties and entities to join.

The AGM will take place on Saturday, November 13 at Plot 8 on the corner of Mercia and Rosemary Street in Jackaroo Park.

Grietjie Naude has been a part of the Highveld Association for the last 28 years.

The place has been there since 1945 and started with SAVF of Guateng and four mothers with four disabled and they needed a place where they would be taken care of and supervised.

That is when they decided to start a centre for the disabled at Landau Mine at their homes.

The mayor at that stage decided to come on board and to give a building at the swimming pool where they came together and started training them in skills to enhance their living experience.

A lot of community members came together and took hands which made this project a reality.

At this stage, they currently have 30 multi-racial and multi disabilities attending the activity centre from Monday to Friday.

They currently have eight disabled people staying in their residential facility.
