Witbank SAPS confiscated drugs worth R1 million at a house on prison grounds

Paxton prison warden arrested for dealing in drugs

A 37-year-old prison warden staying in a house at Paxton Prison, eMalahleni was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation. The arrest was made on Thursday, November 11 at 03:30. During the operation, the house of the prison warden was searched and the following drugs were seized: 2.49 kg of crystal meth, nine and a half moons of rocks, 1.5kg of heroine, 3.2grams of rocks, and 10 rocks. The total street value is R1 million, during the search through the house the police also seized cash of R70 000. Police are currently investigating whether the drugs were sold to prisoners on-site or whether it was sold elsewhere in eMalahleni. Investigations are continuing and more arrests are expected.
