No word on who will take the reins

Everyone is waiting for the announcement of the new executive mayor in Emalahleni.

There are still only whispers in the municipality’s corridors as to who will be appointed as the executive mayor of Emalahleni.

The three candidates, Ms Cornelia Nkalitshana, Ms Petunia Qondi Maseko and Mr Mduduzi Nkosi went for interviews at Luthuli House on Friday, January 28.

“The three names were forwarded to the national executive committee of the ANC for decision,” said municipal spokesperson Mr Lebo Mofokeng.

The top six in the ANC had a meeting on Monday, January 31, but there is still no wind of who will fill the seat left empty after the tragic death of Cllr Linah Malatjie and her husband Mr Esau Malatjie early in January.

The newly elected mayor will have to appoint a new mayoral committee to assist in the decision-making of the municipality.
