Ga-Nala and Thubies might have electricity this afternoon

Eskom is working around the clock to fix the problem.

The two faulty 10 MVA transformers at Kriel main substation are to blame for the electricity problems in the town.

Eskom, yesterday, managed to move the mobile transformer unit from Eskom Park to Kriel main substation and are currently busy working on testing and commissioning of the unit.

Bearing any unforeseen circumstances it is expected that the works should be completed by this afternoon wherein energising of the distribution system to customers can commence in a staggered and systematic manner.

“The communities are requested to assist by switching off all loads like appliances, geysers, and pool pumps to assist with stabilising the supply and to prevent trips due to overloading of the system,” said Mr Lebo Mofokeng, municipal spokesperson.

On the bright side, the municipality has managed to maintain the supply of water to the communities during this time.
