Witbank Police hosted multidisciplinary sports against crime campaign
Spring Valley, Masakhane and Old Coronation team up to fight against crime through sports.
The Sports Against Crime initiative driven by Cst Priscilla Nkosi from Witbank Police Station turned out to be a great success.
On May 7, Witbank SAPS in conjunction with Witbank Community Policing Forum (CPF) and other non-governmental organisations held a successful Sport Against Crime Campaign at Masakhane Informal Settlement.
The day was attended by informal settlements from Spring Valley, Masakhane and Old Coronation.
Soccer and netball were fearlessly played against each other to compete for the grand prizes for the winners of the soccer and netball teams.
The winners of the soccer were Masakhane and netball were also Masakhane for the day; they received their winner’s trophy, medals and soccer and netball kits with sports bags.
Witbank SAPS was represented by the sector commanders Capt Ramateletsi, Sgt Fanishwa, Cst Nkosi, Sgt Nkuna and Reservist Cst Slabbert.
“The sports day was a huge success and once again proved that sports can unite our communities together so that they can fight crime together with the police,” Cst Nkosi concluded.
