Man shot in leg for cellphone in Mandela Street

Robbers will not think twice about the safety of a victim when it comes to taking valuable property.

It is alleged that a man was robbed at a local gas station on Mandela Street.

The incident is alleged to have occurred in the evening hours of July 4.

It is believed that two unknown men approached him with a firearm and took his cellphone. Allegedly, the men shot the victim in the leg after taking his cellphone.

He was taken to a local hospital.

The South African Police Service recommends the following personal safety tips among others: Avoid displaying valuables where criminals can see them, never walk around alone and don’t talk to strangers, be on the lookout for strange cars or people, and walk in well-lit busy streets and in a group, if possible.

Robbers will not think twice about the safety of a victim when it comes to taking valuable property. When speaking to the victim’s friend, he said the man was released from the local hospital and is in good condition.
