Man trying to sell puppies in Reyno Ridge has residents ‘barking’ with anger

Animal cruelty is a sad reality in eMalahleni.

The week has barely started, and perpetrators of animal cruelty are already up and running.

Yesterday, a man was standing in Reyno Ridge with two puppies and tried to sell them to by-passers.

How the puppies came into his possession is unknown.

WITBANK NEWS reached out to Liz Oberholzer from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to report the issue, and she said that she received information that the puppies were sold.

“People should realise that this incident amounts to animal cruelty. Perpetrators are breeding dogs for dog fighting, amongst others reasons. Purchasing puppies in this way only encourages them to breed more,” she said.

WITBANK NEWS is currently investigating instances of animal cruelty in eMalahleni, and will visit the SPCA this week to meet with Liz and receive more information.
