Traffic Awareness Campaign still in full swing in eMalahleni

Operation Bopha is here and also the Traffic Awareness campaign is on the go; motorists of the City of Coal are urged to do the right thing.

The Emalahleni Local Traffic Department at Checkers Saveways Crescent launched a Traffic Awareness Notice Campaign on Saturday, September 3.

The community of eMalahleni at large along with the motorists were invited to check the status of their traffic fines.

The reason behind this initiative was to assist motorists to reduce their traffic fines.

Nonhlanhla Mahlalela, Emalahleni Traffic Department officer encouraged eMalahleni residents to come out in numbers to check the statuses of their traffic fines and to support the initiative as well, “the reason behind this campaign is to provide motorists with information pertaining their traffic fines, for example, should you find yourself with an outstanding traffic fine, we will offer a 50% discount. We bring the service to the people especially those who can not due to various reasons are unable to visit our offices to check the status of their traffic fines. There are many reasons why we launched this initiative; some of those are because some motorists aren’t even aware that they have traffic fines. You will find that some are speed camera fines or some fines were not received by that specific individual because they were either not received via postal box or delayed, but this way individuals are able to check if they do or don’t have traffic fines and make the necessary payment methods.”

The initiative usually takes place between the first and the last week of every month in different locations. The Traffic Department was assisting motorists last week at Highveld Mall.

For those who missed this one, you can always save the date for the next upcoming one on October 1 at Checkers Boulevard.

The Emalahleni Traffic Department would like to extend their appreciation to the people of eMalahleni for the positive feedback received thus far from the residents who came out in numbers to take responsibility and accountability for their traffic fines because some motorists don’t even know if  they do/don’t have traffic fines, however they do not know the processes and procedures that comes with them.
