Sassa Mpumalanga would like to inform all beneficiaries that they must ignore the expiry date on the gold card; cards are still valid until December 31, 2023.

The expiry date has created panic among beneficiaries. As a result, they are visiting Sassa offices in numbers.

Even though the Sassa gold card is still valid, beneficiaries have a choice to choose a payment method that is suitable for them.

There are cut-off dates on which the change of payment method should be captured in the system. Beneficiaries have the opportunity to make changes before the 15th of every month.

To avoid standing in long queues in Sassa local offices, beneficiaries can submit the request to change the payment method at the online Sassa services portal.

Mpumalanga Region has a total number of 1 594 478 beneficiaries receiving social assistance monthly.

Out of this number, approximately 48% (758 618/1 594 478) of the beneficiaries are receiving the grants using the Sassa/Sapo Gold Card.

The grants are received at Cash Pay points, Sapo branches, ATMs and retailers. The Region has 53 active cash pay points and 81 active Sapo branches whereby beneficiaries access their social assistance.
