Police sergeant dies in hospital after hijacking ordeal

A local policeman died after he was assaulted during a car hijacking.

There is a sombre mood hanging over Witbank Police Station this morning.

 

Sergeant Ben Masaleng Mangoejane’s place is empty. He died in hospital after he was severely assaulted during a car hijacking.

 

The incident happened on the N1 highway in the Sedibeng district. 

 

“We are still trying to come to terms with this tragedy,” said Captain Eddie Hall, police spokesperson.
