Suspected cable thief arrested in Price Street

The suspicious vehicle led police to a R20 000 find.

The city is overrun by vandals who damage and plunder the infrastructure daily.

Police were fortunate to catch one such suspect with the stolen goods in his possession.

On Friday, November 24 police from Witbank Police Station were on patrol when they noticed a Toyota Tazz in Price Street and decided to pull over the vehicle with one male occupant inside.

During the inspection of the vehicle, police found suspected stolen property (copper cables).

The alleged copper thief could not produce any documentation or indicate where the cables were purchased or how the cables were obtained.

The suspect was then taken into custody.

The stolen cables had an estimated value of R20 000.

The suspect was charged with the possession of suspected stolen property.
