Mpumalanga Football Academy claim victory over Ehlazeni United

Academy scored their first goal through Ntuthuko Mlotshwa towards the end of the first half to make it 1-0.

The ABC Motsepe League doubleheader match between Mpumalanga Football Academy the host and Ehlazeni United took place at the Puma Stadium.

The first match on Saturday, December 9 was between Destiny College and Mpumalanga Future United.

In the Academy/United match the log leaders attacked Academy winger Thapelo Dhludhlu and nearly scored but his shot was blocked.

Not to be outdone United Shongwe Victor Shongwe also had a shot at goal but it went wide.

Both teams had a fair chance to register an early goal but it was never to be.

Academy Tshegofatso Bosenga had his shot over the bar and Khumbulani Ncube had a head collision with another player and play had to be stopped for a few minutes.

Play swung from one end to the other with both teams searching for the first goal.

With the defence of both teams very tight it was left to the team’s strikers to score goals.

Towards the end of the first half, a slight drizzle came for a few minutes but play continued.

The academy nearly scored after they were awarded a place-kick.

United’s Macina Vuyo initiated a good move but the results were negative.

Academy Mvuleni Mnisi missed a scoring opportunity.

Academy scored their first goal through Ntuthuko Mlotshwa towards the end of the first half to make it 1-0.

Academy made a substitution and they started attacking and they were nearly rewarded with a second goal.

Academy Mpho Modise in a break attack nearly scored and United Sizwe Sithole shot wide after a cross from the left.

United forward Nkosinathi Sibande shot over the bar failing to beat Academy goalkeeper, Sinothile Maseko.

Academy Bosenga was yellow-carded for rough play.

United Ngwako Malatji aimed for a goal but his shot missed the target after it deflected for a corner.

United equalised to make it 1-1 but their happiness was short-lived as Academy scored their second goal via a header.

The score ended with triumph for Academy leading 2-1.
