Witbank Police acknowledge CPF crime busters

The theft of motor vehicles in the CBD, Saveways and Klipfontein business areas showed a sudden decrease since the proactive patrols started.

The Community Policing Forum (CPF) bicycle and foot patrollers are making a positive impact in curbing crime in the city.

The bicycle crime prevention squad is a pilot project in eMalahleni and Mpumalanga and is a clear indication of a successful partnership between the CPF and the police.

The station commander of Witbank SAPS Brigadier Moses Bolton, the management of Witbank Police Station and Witbank CPF executive members took time out to thank the Witbank CPF bicycle and foot patrollers.

Bolton addressed the patrollers at the police station and thanked  Themba Dube from Witbank CPF who initiated the project which started last month.

“The project already had a significant impact in curbing property crimes in eMalahleni. The theft of motor vehicles in the CBD, Saveways and Klipfontein business areas showed a sudden decrease since the proactive patrols started,” said Bolton.

The Brigadier ended by thanking all patrollers for their dedication and hard work the past year.

“I wish all the patrollers and all the CPF members a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year,” concluded Bolton.

All patrollers received certificates of commendation and food hampers.

The hampers were sponsored by Pakistani businesses in the CBD and Reyno Ridge businessmen.
