Security guards robbed on duty
Security guards were robbed while on duty at a local mine by a group of suspects who fled with their cellphones.
Vosman Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating and apprehending a group of unknown suspects in connection with an alleged armed robbery.
When it comes to armed robberies, not even security guards are safe.
A security guard reported to police that he and two of his colleagues were robbed by a group of suspects while on duty at a local mine.
The incident happened on Tuesday, January 2 at around 00:15 when one of the guards told his colleague that he saw a person inside the premises. They attempted to pursue the suspect when they were confronted by a group of suspects, two of whom were armed. The suspects allegedly stole the guards’ cell phones and indicated that they wanted cables. When one of the guards arrived with backup, the suspects fled.
The suspects are unknown, and no arrests have been made.
Vosman Police Station spokesperson Elizabeth Hlathi said, “Police request anyone who might have information that may lead to the arrest of those involved in this regard to contact Vosman Police Station at 079 8914 822.”
