Kwaguqa Academy transforms young athletes

Kwa-Guga Academy shaping future athletes

Kwa-Guqa Academy is a non-profit sport and recreation organisation that helps shape future athletes with sporting talents in eMalahleni.
Their main goal is to accommodate athletes from different backgrounds in the local community with physical activities for the holistic development of athletes, offered free of charge.
The academy provides services that accommodate the community from five years and upwards, with no limitations.
Kwa-Guqa Academy works closely with schools in the local area, where they source many of their youngest athletes.

The relationship between both the schools and the academy has the potential to cultivate talent and pique the interest of pupils.

“We are passionate about sports development and committed to providing structured, successful, and safe programmes for our athletes in our community,” said Mphelang Vanessa Tshesane, founder and chairperson.

The academy offers this life-changing opportunity to minimise crime and for the community not to engage in drug and alcohol abuse, and ensures that the parents of the athletes are also part of the journey.
The organisation encourages the community to join their running team and offers activities such as track and field, middle distances (cross country), and road running (10km and marathons).
Not only are they lending a helping hand in giving them this opportunity, but they’re also opening doors as participants get the opportunity to receive their AMPU/ASA licence.

“We do all the administration and provide all our athletes with information about their running discipline,” Vanessa said.

Kwa-Guqa Academy can be found on Facebook, or send an email to kwaguqaacademy@gmail.com for more information.
Interested participants can also contact Matilda Nkosi 076 097 9155 or Vanessa on 079 506 4569/073 492 4254.
