Fire guts commune in ward 20

No injuries were reported in a commune that caught fire in Extension 10.

Emalahleni Fire Department responded swiftly to the house fire that was reported on Dirkie Uys Street in Extension 10.

The house reportedly operating as a commune caught fire on Monday, September 2 at around 18:30.

Clr Maureen Scheepers who was present at the scene told WITBANK NEWS that the fire was reported on one of the service delivery groups.

Fire department was dispatched and are currently fighting the fire as we speak,” Scheepers explained.

She confirmed that the house on fire was in Ward 20, and further outlined that the community came out in numbers to provide assistance to those affected.

“No injuries were reported on scene,” Scheepers assured.

WITBANK NEWS reached out to the owner of the house who was unavailable to comment.
