Worcester Street accident – delivery man dies in hospital

Jean Pierre Mirundi died in hospital due to severe internal injuries.

There is a somber feeling covering the delivery community like a heavy blanket.

Their friend, Jean Pierre Mirundi, died in hospital following the accident on Friday, September 13 when he was knocked off his motorbike.

Mirundi was on his way back from a delivery when a car collided with his delivery bike in Worcester Street.

After waiting more than an hour for the provincial ambulance, Legacy Emergency Medical Services was contacted. They came out and assessed his injuries and transported him to Witbank Hospital.

WITBANK NEWS reported from the scene.

 

The provincial ambulance services arrived on the scene nearly 90 minutes after the accident and transported the driver of the Toyota, involved in the crash, to the hospital.

Mirundi, who was from Burundi, was a father of two and his wife is pregnant with their third baby.

“Our friend is gone and it is painful gathering each day and knowing that he is missing from our group. It is very painful,” his friends echoed.

The accident is under investigation.
