Emihle wears Face of Emalahleni Queen crown

"We promote education by awarding bursaries, allowing the youth to showcase their talents," said the founder of the beauty pageant organisation Sibongile Mabona.

The most anticipated annual beauty pageant competition in the city, Face of Emalahleni, recently celebrated and commemorated 10 years of crowning beautiful women in the City of Coal.The prestigious event was held at the Ridge Casino on Saturday, October 19.

The event was raced by esteemed and high-profile guests like Deputy Minister of Correctional Services Lindiwe Ntshalintshali, MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation, Leah Mabuza, Emalahleni Local Municipality’s Acting Executive Mayor of Emalahleni, Clr Hessy Maseko, pastors, guests and sponsors.

The founder and organiser of Face of Emalahleni beauty pageant organisation, Sibongile Mabona, shared that the event was coordinated by Nokuthula Mampuru and her team.

“We awarded some of the people who contributed immensely when the project started. The likes of Lindiwe Phakathi for developing the concept, and for being the best mentor, and Chief Judge Lindiwe Mtsweni for her contribution,” Sibongile thanked.

The crowning had different categories which are Face of Emalahleni, Miss Plus Size Emalahleni, Miss Teen Emalahleni, Miss Pre-Teen Emalahleni, and Little Miss Emalahleni.

Sibongile added that the Face of Emalahleni has been consistent since its inception in 2015.

She reckoned that the pageant is a progressive, exciting, and innovative platform that interacts with young people from eMalahleni, allowing them to be empowered and groomed to be ambassadors and agents of change in society.

“We hosted 10 successful events. We promote education by awarding bursaries, allowing the youth to showcase their talents, and involvement in a community through charity activities,” Sibongile emphasised.

 

The founder ended by giving thanks to the Sogutjhe Royal House, Ndabezitha Sipho Mahlangu, Emalahleni Local Municipality youth manager Themba Nkosi, and cultural centre manager, Given Siboza for attending the show.

 

“We also gave honorary awards to sponsors who started the journey with us,” said Sibongile.
