SAVF Immergroen commemorates 120th anniversary

Different branches across the country commemorated the anniversary on Saturday, October 19.

SAVF Immergroen, a home for frail care persons and a shelter for the elderly in need, recently celebrated a remarkable milestone – its 120th anniversary.

The anniversary was celebrated nationally, with local offices forming a part of the celebration.

SAVF Immergroen released a statement on social media on Saturday, October 19.

The post read that the SAVF was founded in 1904, and has evolved into a beacon of hope, compassion, and care over the past 12 decades.

SAVF president, Graeme Peplar, shared a message that was streamed on YouTube for the branches across the nation.

“My connection to SAVF began at birth, having been born at Ou Moedersbond, and with my mother receiving support from the SAVF’s ‘Armstrong Berning Tehuis’ this personal tie deepened my commitment,” Graeme shared.

He mentioned that he was elected as president in 2017, which he considered a momentous honour.

“Since then, I’ve leveraged my business expertise to contribute to positioning SAVF as the organisation of choice,” Graeme said.

The president added that as part of the anniversary he wished to pay tribute to dedicated volunteers, devoted staff, and selfless contributors who have shaped the organisation’s legacy over 12 decades.

“With renewed energy, we forge ahead, focused on serving children, families, and elderly citizens. SAVF’s future is bright, and together we’ll continue making a meaningful difference. Happy 120th anniversary, SAVF. May this milestone be a testament to our organisation’s dedication, resilience, and tireless efforts in serving children, families, and the elderly. Here’s to many more years of caring hearts, helping hands, transforming lives,” Graeme ended.
