Crime is on the rise in eMalahleni

Gunned down in broad daylight.

A routine trip to the taxi rank turned into a nightmare for a woman, who was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by three suspects outside a local store in Tasbet Park.

According to the police report, the complainant alleged that on Thursday, October 31, she was waiting for transport to Duvha Park, Masakhane, near the robot outside a local supermarket, when a silver Toyota Corolla stopped beside her.

The complainant further alleged that three suspects emerged from the vehicle and pointed a firearm at her.

The suspects then allegedly robbed her of her belongings before they fled the scene.

Captain Eddie Hall from the Witbank police gave these tips, “Avoid being alone in a vehicle when travelling at night. Do not stop around hijacking spots or in any secluded area. Always be alert when driving. If you suspect you are being followed by a suspicious vehicle, drive to the nearest police station or call the SAPS Emergency Number, 10111. Avoid distractions, such as being on your phone. Increase caution at intersections and always keep a lookout for people loitering around your car or for any sudden activity around your car.”

This is still an ongoing case, as the police are still investigating.
