Emalahleni Local Municipality issues emergency power outage notification

According to Emalahleni Local Municipality, the scheduled outages are due to the installation of a new transformer at the Dixon Substation.

Emalahleni Local Municipality recently issued an Emergency Power outage notification on social media.

The municipality explained that the outages are necessary to install new transformers and replace stolen protection cables at the Del Judor and Dixon substations.

The outages are set to take place today (November 13) in parts of Emalahleni, including Del Judor Extensions, Tasbet Park, Reyno Ridge, and Klipfontein.

The statement further noted that the emergency power outage at the Dixon Substation was scheduled from 08:00 to 17:00, and the Del Judor Substation from 08:00 to 18:00.

The statement reads as follows:

Del Judor Substation Affected Areas:

  • Del Judor Extensions
  • Del Judor Mall (Checkers Hyper)
  • Highland Mews

The affected areas were identified but may change due to ring feeds.

Dixon Substation Affected Areas:

  • Reyno Ridge 4, 5, and 6
  • Part of Reyno Ridge proper
  • Khayalami
  • Pick n Pay Reyno Ridge
  • Brettenwood
  • The Ridge Estate
  • Dixon plots
  • Ridgeview Estate
  • Eskom flats
  • Green village
  • CTC Hostel
  • Tasbet Spar and KFC
  • Bushwillow
  • Part of Tasbet Ext. 12
  • Greendale High School

“The areas listed may change due to ring feeds, which can affect additional regions. The network should be treated as live during this period for safety,” the statement ended.
