Driver spends new year fighting for his life

The man was beaten to a pulp after he was hijacked.

As we move into the new year, Vosman motorists should be aware of carjacking trends in the area.

This comes after a man was carjacked of his silver Volkswagen Polo Vivo outside a tavern in Phase 4.

According to the report, when the man arrived at the tavern on Wednesday, January 1, the man realised the establishment was closed.

Whilst reversing, at around 23:00, five men emerged out of nowhere, threatened the driver with a firearm, and instructed him to open the door.

It is alleged that two of the men were armed with firearms and three with knives.

It is reported that the driver was kidnapped to Kromdraai, where he was beaten to a pulp as the men demanded money.

The men left the driver to die in the bushes before they fled the scene with his car.
