Petition to address water supply issue in Ward 20 gains momentum
Residents of Ward 20 petition for relief from water supply woes
A petition initiated by Clr Maureen Scheepers and concerned residents of Ward 20, has garnered several responses, highlighting the urgent need to address water supply challenges in areas supplied by the Point A Reservoir.
The petition emphasises the insufficient supply capacity of the reservoir, which has led to frequent water shortages, low water pressure, and an unreliable water supply.
This has significantly impacted residents’ health, sanitation, and quality of life.
Scheepers and the concerned residents are calling on the Emalahleni Local Municipality to take immediate action to address these issues.
They are urging the municipality to increase pumping capacity, expand reservoir capacity, implement a contingency plan, improve infrastructure maintenance, and optimise water management strategies.
The petitioners believe that these measures will ensure a consistent and adequate water supply to the affected areas, alleviating the suffering of residents and business owners.
