A calling to serve, Busisiwe Mahlangu’s soup kitchen story
Busisiswe's soup kitchen sometimes provide the only meal for the day for the needy.
With compassion and kindness, Busisiwe Mahlangu is making a difference in her community, one meal at a time.
Busisiwe answered a calling from God to serve her community. Moved by the sight of men sitting at robots, asking for food, she decided to take action.
Inspired by Acts 10:35 from the bible, which speaks about giving, she envisioned a soup kitchen where she could provide nourishment to those in need.
Despite initial doubts about how to start, she felt God’s guidance to, “do what you can with what you have”. Busisiwe shared her idea with her husband and four boys, and together, they embarked on this mission.
The soup kitchen has become a family affair with Busisiwe’s husband and children actively involved in cooking and serving meals.
The kids are enthusiastic about helping, and the kitchen has become a space for them to learn valuable lessons about compassion and community service.
The meals served are full-course, nutritious, and lovingly prepared.
Her soup kitchen officially opened its doors on February 15, marking the beginning of a new chapter in serving the community.
She believes that when God gives you a calling, you must answer; as it brings blessings not only to yourself but also to those you serve. This selfless act has brought joy and sustenance to many in the community.
Busisiwe’s soup kitchen is a shining example of the impact one person can have when they answer a calling to serve.
Her story inspires us to look beyond our own needs and to seek ways to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
