A disturbing incident occurred on the roads of eMalahleni earlier today when a half-naked man was spotted running in the middle of the road, in oncoming traffic.

Sergeant Lorraine Mahlakoana, Sector 2 manager at the Witbank Police Station, who attended to the incident, said she was called by her neighbourhood watch earlier today, informing her of the man’s abnormal behaviour on OR Tambo Road and Old Middelburg Road.

The man, who seemed unresponsive to people’s attempts to communicate with him, continued to run, side-stepping everyone who tried to help him and ran into oncoming traffic.

“My colleagues sneaked on him so that they could have him under control,” Mahlakoana said, adding that they were then able to get him into the police van.

The man was taken to Impungwe Hospital, where the medical staff told the police that it was not their first time admitting him.

The man is currently at the hospital, and Mahlakoana said they were assured that he would be given the necessary medication and would be able to communicate well after some time.
