James clinches McCarthy VW Witbank Ice Breaker

There were over 600 entries for this year’s McCarthy VW Witbank Ice Breaker.

James Mwangi won the VW Witbank Ice Breaker 21.1km men’s open race in an incredible finish with a time of 1:09:04.

Reflecting on the race, James humbly said, “It was a good race. There were a few obstacles, but it was a fantastic run.”

Mandla Nkabinde came in two minutes afterward with a time of 1:11:03, and Graham Malinga took third place.

“This was fun,” first lady walker Ester Liebenberg said at the finish line.

Marius Townsend (15) was first over the finish line in the 5km in a time of 20:51:39.
This is the second year McCarthy VW hosted the race, which is already 12 years old.

“A heartfelt thank you to every person who took the time to be part of this special day. A big shoutout to all our amazing partners who made it even more memorable, but most of all, thank you to the runners and walkers who took part. Your energy, smiles, and spirit made this event unforgettable,” said Kobus du Plessis, Dealer Principal of VW Witbank.
