Gunpoint robberies on the rise in eMalahleni

eMalahleni has recently experienced a surge in violent crime as three incidents of robbery with a firearm reported in just over a week.

In just over a week, three incidents of robbery with a firearm have been reported, with robbers targeting victims in various parts of the city.

The latest incident occurred on June 7 when a man was robbed at gunpoint in Hlalanikahle Extension 4.

According to police, the victim was forced to hand over his belongings, including a cellphone, wallet, and other valuables.

This follows a similar incident on June 5, when a truck driver was robbed at gunpoint on the N4. According to police, the robbers made off with a cellphone and a company tablet.

In another incident, a man was kidnapped and robbed on May 28 by robbers who forced him into their car and demanded money. According to police, the victim was later released in some bushes on June 2.

Captain Vusi Mnisi from Vosman Police Station said the incidents are under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
