Teenager allegedly sexually assaulted by stepfather in Hlalanikahle

Just as the 16-Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children is gaining momentum, a mom from Hlalanikahle opened a case against her husband for allegedly sexually assaulting her daughter.

According to the police, the mom said that on November 29, around 19:00, she sent her 12-year-old daughter to her stepfather’s place to fetch a jersey.

When the teenager arrived, her stepfather hugged her and allegedly started touching her private parts, telling her that they were going to sleep together in exchange for some cash.

Fortunately, the teenager reportedly managed to open the door and ran to her mother to report what had happened.

The matter was reported to the police, and investigations into the case are underway.

SAPS advises parents and guardians to always be careful about who they trust with their children, “Never leave children unattended and always pay attention to any changes both in their body and behaviour,” SAPS stated.
