Criminals beware, eMalahleni gate motors are fitted with tracking devices

Thirteen gate motors were recovered, and if yours were stolen, you can visit Witbank SAPS to see if your gate motor is there.

If you woke up this morning and your gate motor is missing, it most probably is at Witbank Police Station.

The gate motors were recovered when vigilant CSC security officers received a tracking signal from a gate motor that was being moved on January 12.

The gate motor was fitted with a tracking device from CSC Tactical, which rolled out a project to tag motor gates after a spike in gate motor thefts recently.

Reactions officers followed up on the signal and tracked a suspicious Audi from Model Park to Overline.

Realising they had no escape, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the gate motors were discovered.

In light of this recovery, the Witbank SAPS urged residents to take proactive steps to secure their property.

Piet Cromhout from CSC Tactical said this successful recovery highlights the effectiveness of modern technology paired with rapid response.

You are required to bring along proof of ownership, such as purchase receipts, serial number records, or previously filed case numbers, to reclaim your gate motor.
