Search for family of unidentified cyclist continues

Weeks have passed, but the family of the cyclist who died in a tragic collision remains untraceable.

Witbank SAPS is still seeking the community’s assistance in finding the family of a cyclist whose life was claimed in a tragic collision.

The incident occurred on January 14, at around 18:10, along Verena Road, when the cyclist was struck by a motorist and sadly died at the scene.

At the time of the accident, the man was wearing a red T-shirt, black jeans, a black Adidas jacket, and a black cap. He was also carrying a black Nike backpack.

“We appeal to the community to assist the police in ensuring that the deceased’s family is informed and given the opportunity to lay their loved one to rest with dignity. Any information, no matter how small, may be of assistance,” said the Witbank SAPS acting station commander, Colonel Nhlanhla Kgosana.

The police are asking anyone who may recognise the description of the man or who has information that could help trace his next of kin to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Mandla Zita at 078 594 2783.
