eMalahleni champions lead ongoing fight against substance abuse
Local soccer teams are scoring off the field by fighting substance abuse in eMalahleni schools.
Local soccer teams and foundations are taking the fight against drug and substance abuse straight to schools across eMalahleni, educating learners and inspiring them to make positive life choices.
On February 12, eMalahleni United FC joined forces with eMalahleni TUT FC at Kopanang Secondary School. Players and staff engaged students in discussions about the dangers of substance abuse, sharing experiences and offering guidance on making healthy decisions.
Mandla Bodibe, chairman of eMalahleni United, highlighted the importance of consistent community engagement, “On and off the field, united, we remain committed to our youth. Substance abuse is a serious challenge, but through awareness and guidance, we can help students make better choices. This is just the beginning; we plan to visit more schools to continue this vital work.”
Following this, on February 13, Kakarambha Foundation visited Thando Noxolo Special School. Volunteers and staff conducted interactive sessions with students, emphasising the dangers of drugs and the importance of seeking help if needed.

Thando Masango from the foundation stressed the significance of ongoing initiatives, “Our youth are our future, and educating them about the risks of substance abuse is crucial. Awareness alone can save lives. We are committed to continuing these visits and ensuring that students across eMalahleni have access to this life-saving information.”
The Kakarambha Foundation and Mpiloenhle Mashiyane joined forces with local partners to provide food, clothing, and hope to the community
