After years of struggle the Siyanqoba community sees light at the end of the tunnel
Provincial and municipal officials met with the Siyanqoba community to address long-standing service issues.
After nearly a decade of enduring inadequate services, the residents of Siyanqoba may finally see a turning point.
The community, which has long battled unreliable electricity and limited access to clean water, is now receiving urgent attention from both the Mpumalanga provincial government and the Emalahleni Local Municipality.
The province has now responded with decisive action.

Officials from the War Room Committee on March 18 met with the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs, Speedy Mashilo, together with the Department of Water and Sanitation, to address the electricity and water challenges.

In a statement released by the War Room speaker, Mandla Ngwenya, the following was outlined: Eskom has been instructed to connect the electricity line to Vulcan, and the municipality has been asked to sign the Distribution Agency Agreement proposal to fast-track the project.

The water department has been ordered to open the water supply immediately, bypassing previous delays, and plans are underway to assess the water network, repair damaged pipes, and evaluate borehole capacity.
Additional elevated tanks and new boreholes are expected, pending the assessment results.
