Eyewitness recalls moment truck struck VW Polo during U-turn on N4
An eyewitness has described the moments before a truck collided with a VW Polo making a U-turn on the N4 near Highveld Mall.
An eyewitness has shared her account of a collision involving a truck and a Volkswagen Polo on the N4 near Highveld Mall earlier this morning.
According to the witness, Lally Anne Lombard, she saw the VW Polo attempting to make a U-turn when it was struck by an oncoming truck.
She recalled that the incident unfolded within seconds.
“I was frightened. I saw the VW making a U-turn when the truck smashed into it. I am still shocked,” she said.
Emergency services responded to the scene and attended to the occupants of both vehicles.

Following the collision, the driver of the Polo reportedly said that he had become aware of the oncoming truck at a late stage.
According to a representative from Legacy Emergency Services, two occupants from the truck and one occupant from the VW were transported to hospital for further medical assessment and treatment.
He said the injuries sustained were not severe.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are expected to be investigated.
