Emalahleni Municipality urges local businesses to apply for non-financial support programme

Local businesses are encouraged to seize this opportunity to strengthen their operations and contribute meaningfully to Emalahleni’s economic growth and job creation.

The Emalahleni Local Municipality is calling on Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), co-operatives, informal traders, and non-profit organisations (NPOs/NGOs) operating within the municipality to take advantage of the non-financial support programme open for applications.

An information-sharing session held on October 9 provided local business owners, traders, and community organisations with details on the application process and eligibility requirements. The programme offers eligible entities an opportunity to receive tools and equipment valued between R10 000 and R80 000 to strengthen and grow their operations.

Who Can Apply?

· 51% Black-owned, registered South African companies

· Co-operatives

· Informal traders with valid Emalahleni Local Municipality trading permits

· Non-Profit and Non-Governmental Organisations (NPOs/NGOs)

Applicants must be South African citizens, demonstrate operational readiness, and provide valid supporting documents such as certified IDs, FICA documents, proof of tenure, three months’ bank statements (excluding informal traders), and valid trading permits for informal traders (2025/26).

Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals, including women, youth, and people with disabilities.

The grant covers tools and equipment only, not cash, and the municipality reserves the right to award or withdraw support based on eligibility and availability.

How to apply

Application forms are available on the Emalahleni Local Municipality website or can be collected from the LED Unit on the third floor of the main municipal building.

Applications close on November 7.

Important notes

· Previously supported applicants are not eligible in this round.

· Incomplete applications will not be considered.
