Three left naked in separate robberies at gunpoint in Siyanqoba

Witbank Police have strongly condemned disturbing robbery incidents in which victims were attacked by two men during the night.

The Witbank SAPS is investigating two armed robberies after three victims were robbed at gunpoint in Siyanqoba.
The victims were targeted in two separate incidents on December 5. However, in the same section of Siyanqoba.

The first incident

According to the police, a man told them that around 22:30, he was sitting with his girlfriend in his car when they were approached by two men who were armed with firearms and robbed them of their cellphones, cash and stripped their clothes. The victims were left naked.

The second incident

In the second incident, a man told the police that around 22:40, he was walking alone when he was approached by two men who were armed with firearms, and robbed him of his cellphone, money and asked him to take off his clothes.

The second victim was also left naked as they made off with his clothes too.

“We can confirm that according to information received, the suspects accosted the victims, threatened them, robbed them of their personal belongings, and further humiliated them by instructing them to undress before fleeing the scene,” said the Witbank SAPS spokesperson, Captain Eddie Hall.

The Witbank SAPS acting Station Commander, Colonel Emmarancia Kgosana, expressed deep concern over the cruel and degrading nature of the attack.

“This type of behaviour is unacceptable and shows a shocking disregard for the dignity and safety of our community members. We will not tolerate criminals who terrorise innocent people. Our detectives are working tirelessly to track down the suspects and bring them to justice,” said Kgosana.

The suspects remain on the run

The SAPS urges community members who may have witnessed the incident or who have any information that could assist in identifying the suspects to come forward.
All information will be treated with strict confidentiality.

“We call on residents to remain vigilant, especially at night, and to report any suspicious activities immediately. Together, we can make our neighbourhoods safer,” Kgosana added.
