The brothers were on their way to Johannesburg when the accident happened close to Benoni.

The accident that claimed the lives of two brothers happened on the N12 and not the Verena Road close to Siyanqoba as originally reported.
The accident happened on March 28 around 20:30 near Benoni.

According to close friend Sphiwe Mabena, Kgomotso and Mohapi Makhudu had pulled over after experiencing mechanical trouble with their vehicle.

While they were outside of the car, another vehicle struck them. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

In a separate incident a man died and one was hospitalised following an armed robbery close to Siyanqoba on March 28.

Police spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall said three armed men invaded a home in Siyanqoba.

The suspects held the occupants at gunpoint and demanded money.

“The robbers forced the homeowner and one of his relatives into the homeowner’s bakkie and fled the scene,” Hall said. “Just a short distance away, they lost control of the vehicle and crashed.”
