Royal Renal Therapies opens a second branch in eMalahleni
Why travel further when specialised renal care is now available right here in the city?
Royal Renal Therapies has expanded its footprint with the opening of its second branch at Pavilion Centre, 9 Botha Avenue, on August 29, bringing specialised renal care closer to patients in the eMalahleni community.
The opening brought together founder Abysia Mapoko, family members, friends, colleagues, healthcare professionals, and patient and community members who gathered to celebrate the milestone.
Royal Renal Therapies provides renal therapy services, including haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy, with a focus on quality, compassionate, and patient-centred care.

Care closer to home
Mapoko said the new branch was not only about business expansion, but also about making renal treatment more accessible to people in the area.
“Patients from eMalahleni have been travelling to Middelburg for dialysis, and because dialysis can require treatment several times a week, that journey can become a major burden for patients and their families,” she said. “Bringing renal care closer to the community means less travelling, less pressure on families, and better access to the care people need.”
The journey to the second branch began years ago. In 2021, Mapoko left George Mukhari Hospital after working in government and started Royal Renal Therapies.
The following year, the organisation opened its first independent practice in Middelburg.
