The 33rd Forever Resorts Loskop Ultra Marathon

The 33rd Forever Resorts Loskop Ultra Marathon saw 3 237 athletes finish the race

On Saturday, April 13 was the start of a crisp misty morning in Middelburg, Mpumalanga as a single gunshot saw close on 4 000 of athletes jump away at the Middelburg Primary School heading toward Loskopdam, A Forever Resort.

The 13th 21,1km Wild Challenge saw 1 635 athletes finish the race.

The 33rd Forever Resorts Loskop Ultra Marathon saw 3 237 athletes finish the race.

Athletics South Africa has upgraded the 2019 50km Loskop Ultra Marathon to a National Event placing this marathon in the same class as the Comrades and Soweto Marathon.

50km Loskop Ultra Marathon

Charles Tjiane (Bib Number 5261) from Maxed – Kwazulu Natal was the official winner of the 2019 Loskop Ultra Marathon Open Category with a winning time of 02:48:55 making this his fourth consecutive win with this Marathon.

Last year Charles won first place with a time of 02:54:11.

Kagisa Matjile (Bib Number 4433) from Nedbank Running Club came in second place with a time of 02:52:32 followed by Mmanoko Mokwalakwala (Bib Number 5766) from Arcelor Mittal with a time of 02:53:23.

Ann Ashworth (Bib Number 2838) from Massmart Athletics Club placed first in the Female Open Category with a time of 03:24:37 a few seconds quicker than her second place time last year which was 03:28:20. Cobie Smit (Bib Number 5149) from Nedbank Running Club placed second with a time of 03:28:39 followed by Renata Vosloo (Bib Number 2383) from Massmart Athletics Club with a time of 03:31:00.

21,1km Wild Challenge

This year the 21,1km Wild Challenge saw thousands of runners push themselves as this Trial Run is often described as more challenging that the 50km Ultra Marathon.

Bonginkosi Masuso (Bib Number 6294) from Nedbank took first place with a time of 01:11:47 which was an improvement on last year’s winner, Musa Nkosi from EasyEquities Born2Run – CG who won with a time of 01:12:19.

Tebogo Pulusa (Bib Number 7694) from Dwarsrivier Mine Athletic Club took second place at 01:13:00 followed closely by Sibonginkosi Maseko from Ngodwana AC with 01:13:08.
