Inanda Seminary

Educating black South African women

For the past 152 years Inanda Seminary has built a reputation for educating black South African women who have gone into the world exemplifying the school’s motto of ‘Shine Where You Are’

We are a low fee, independent girls’ secondary boarding school, with an excellent pass rate, and high numbers of bachelors annually.

Our mission is to provide a Christian educational environment with an African ethos for members to develop holistically in leadership, life skills, integrated technology, critical thinking, social development and sport. We offer a large variety of sports, including indigenous games and dance, and other extra-mural activities to endorse a healthy lifestyle. A resident nursing sister supports this aim.

Inanda Seminary has adapted to Covid-19, having gone over-and-above the safety protocols required by the Department of Basic Education. The school and hostel is sanitised multiple times a day, seven days a week, and every part of the life of the school has been adapted in order to minimise the risk of transfer. We have therefore been able to maximise on-campus teaching time for Grade 8s to Matric.

We are a learning community where staff and students are constantly challenged to grow and develop. As a member of the South African Extraordinary Schools Coalition (SAESC), we are part of a national organisation whose aim is to re-write the education narrative through innovative instructional practice with a specific focus on digital-technology.

We are affiliated to the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) and are members of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA), South African Extraordinary Schools Coalition (SAESC) and Global Teachers Institute (GTI).
