
MEMBERS of Folweni Crime Prevention carrying out normal patrols in the Folweni area in the early hours of yesterday morning (Wednedsay) received information regarding illegal firearms.
Following up on the information, it led them to the house described to them by informants.
The house was searched and three unlicensed firearms were recovered, including a pistol, a homemade firearm and a revolver.
All three weapons will be sent for ballistic testing to established if they were used in any other crime.
The arrested suspect (43) appeared in the Nsimbini Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
• In another case, the Ulundi Tactical Response Team Unit arrested three suspects aged between 24 and 47 years for possession of unlicensed firearms after they were found with five unlicensed firearms in the Nongoma area in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Four pistols and a shotgun will be sent for ballistic tests.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said, ‘We must not rest until every single unlicensed firearm is removed from circulation.’
