FOUR armed men held up security guards at the Boxer store in Empangeni on Friday.
According to police spokesman, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose, the gang hit the store near closing time at 4.45pm.
‘The security guards were collecting the money boxes and were accosted by four men. One shot was fired and the robbers made off with a box of money,’ he said.
An undisclosed amount of money was stolen.
‘The men escaped in a Nissan Hardbody with no registration plates,’ said Mdlalose.
He added police believed there were more members of the gang waiting outside the shopping centre.
No arrests have been made.
