Warrant officer in court

An eSikhawini police station Warrant Officer will re-appear in court today (Monday) after the fatal shooting of a colleague and a woman at Port Durnford last week.

SAP Warrant Officer Isaac Bheyo Dlamini will re-appear in court today (Monday) in connection with the fatal shooting of a police colleague and a woman on 5 September.

Const Nqobile Mthokozisi Mwandla and Nonhlanhla Mthembu died from gunshots wounds at a homestead near Port Durnford.

Dlamini and Mwandla had travelled in a police van to the homestead where, on arrival at around 10.30pm, they alighted and apparently had a dispute.

Residents reported seeing the constable being shot by the accused, who then entered a house and fired a single shot into the chest of Mthembu.

Dlamini is expected to ask for legal representation as the investigation continues.
