
A MPUMALANGA teenager on holiday in Zululand with her family, was enjoying Monday afternoon on Alkantstrand when she was suddenly attacked by an unknown male.
According to the Richards Bay SAPS, the suspect was described as a vagrant who approached her just after noon, threatening her with a knife. A scuffle broke out and she was stabbed in the back.
She was rushed to a local clinic where she received stitches for her wound, but escaped serious injuries.
A family member told the Zululand Observer she is recovering well from the traumatic experience. The family prepares to leave Richards Bay tomorrow (Friday).
‘It was a shock, but we are happy that she is alright now,’ he said.
He applauded the Richards Bay Caravan Park security guards for stepping in to assist the family through the difficult ordeal.
The suspect is still at large.
