Security vehicles were used to corner the driver of the stolen Toyota Hilux on the N2
POLICE and Alpha Security guards recovered a stolen vehicle on Tuesday afternoon after they were tipped off that a hijacked Toyota Hilux was heading towards Durban on the N2.
The vehicle was reported missing in Richards Bay on Tuesday morning.
Security and SAP officials swooped on the suspect after setting up patrols and blocking off the road between bridge C and D on the N2 just 3km away from the Mtunzini toll plaza.
As the vehicle approached the roadblock, the driver swerved off the road, almost crashing into one of the police patrol vans.
In an attempt to escape, the suspects jumped out the van and fled into the nearby bush.
The K9 unit was called and a search of the area was done but no arrests were made.
