Eyes on global clinic

Free eye tests and glasses from US-based organisation OneSight helps Zululanders

AMERICAN-based charity organisation OneSight assisted approximately 5 000 Zululanders suffering from poor eyesight over the past two weeks as part of a programme in which doctors and volunteers representing the foundation from all corners of the world provide children and adults with free eye tests and glasses.

Local mobile health organisation Mpilonhle was also involved raising tuberculosis awareness.

The turnout at the ‘global clinics’ exceeded both charities’ expectations as masses of people arrived in Jozini, Mangusi, Hlabisa and Hluhluwe seeking treatment.

According to OneSight’s mission statement, the foundation hopes to restore and preserve clear vision for the more than 314 million adults and children worldwide who cannot see clearly.
